Petroleum - Non renewable source of energy - Occurence and Distillation

 Petroleum or crude oil is thick liquid consisting of more than hundreds of combustible hydrocarbons with small amount of S, O, N, as impurities. 



OCCURENCE: 

The fossil Fuel (Coal and petroleum) was formed by the decomposition of dead animals and plants, that were buried under lake and ocean at high temperature and pressure for millions of years. 

Fractional Distillation: 

From the crude - petroleum oil, the various hydrocarbons are separated by purifying and fractionating the crude petroleum oil. 

Petroleum-World Scenario :

The world is having 67% of the petroleum reserves. About 25% of the oil reserves are found in Saudi Arabia. At present, rate of usage, world's crude oil reserves are expected to get exhausted in just 40 Years.

 Advantages Of  Air Refrigeration : 1. The refrigerant used namely air is cheap and easily available. 2. There is no danger of fire or toxic effects due to leakages. 3. The weight to ton of refrigeration ratio is less as compared to other systems. Disadvantages Of Air Refrigeration : 1. The quantity of  Refrigerant used per ton of refrigeration is high as compared to other systems. 2. The COP of the system is very low. Therefore running cost is high. 3.
