Energy
Energy may be defined as, "any property, which can be converted into work."
(or)
Energy is defined as, " the capacity to do work."
Energy is found available on the earth in a number of forms, some of which may be immediately used to do work, while the other require some process of transformation. Life is unthinkable without energy. All the developmental activities in the world are directly or indirectly dependent upon energy. Both energy production and energy utilization are the indicators of a country's progress.
Development of Energy
The first form of energy is the fire. The early man discovered fire and used it for cooking and heating purposes. Wood is the main source of energy, which is later replaced by coal. Coal is now being replaced by the oil and gas. Now due to insufficient availability and price hike, people started of thinking and using alternate sources of energy.
Wood --------> Coal ---------> oil ------------> alternate energy
Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy Resources.
Based on continual utility, natural resources can be classified into two types.
1.Renewable energy resources.
2.Non-Renewable energy resources.
